Service Description
DNA-V I is a 6-session, live, online, didactic course for clinicians who wish to use ACT, emphasizing exposure and response prevention for youngsters with OCD and anxiety disorders. It is based on the developmental model of ACT developed by Louise Hayes and Joseph Ciarrocchi (see The Thriving Adolescent, New Harbinger, 2015). Presenter: Dr. Evelyn Gould, PhD, BCBA-D, LABA, is a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Behavior Analyst who has worked extensively with OCD and ASD in outpatient and residential settings. She is the Director of the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety, Los Angeles. There is an extra $15 fee for CEs. Scholarships or reduced prices are available for practitioners who belong to or serve marginalized communities. Course Overview: • Session 1. Overview of the DNA-V Model and applications to ERP • Session 2. OCD and Anxiety in Childhood and Adolescence • Session 3. DNA-V as an Assessment Tool • Session 4: Creating a Flexible Self & Shaping Choice • Session 5: Values-Based Exposure • Session 6: Troubleshooting, Generalization & Maintenance Educational Objectives: After the completion of DNA-V I, participants will be able to 1. Describe the DNA-V Model and how it applies to ERP 2. Describe the efficacy and use of exposure and response prevention 3. Conceptualize avoidance-based disorders 4. Conceptualize cases using the DNA-V model 5. Assess for skills deficits in psychological flexibility 6. Use the DNA-V “Comfort Zone” model to shape choice 7. Use the DNA-V “Comfort Zone” model to construct an exposure menu 8. Describe how to support young people in values-based exposures 9. Facilitate client willingness and choice 10. Describe obstacles to generalization and maintenance of gains Intended Audience: Beginning and Intermediate-level clinicians
