COVID-19

November 28, 2020

To our valued clients at the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety Boston (NECOA Boston):

Due to evolving public health risks related to coronavirus (COVID-19), the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety Boston has made the decision that, at least through December 31, 2020, we will conduct psychotherapy sessions with our clients via HIPAA-secure videoconference, rather than via our usual in-person meetings.  We will consider in-person appointments under specific conditions – if you would like more information about this, please contact our Clinic Manager, Mikala Grimaldi, at cliniccoordinator@newenglandocd.org.

At NECOA Boston, we understand that there are many unknowns about COVID-19. As a team of providers, we aim to be consistent with public health goals around slowing the spread of COVID-19 such that it does not overwhelm healthcare resources.  As recent research on telepsychology (psychotherapy via teleconference) has shown that telepsychology is generally as helpful as its in-person equivalent, we believe that the use of telepsychology at this time will be a way to protect individual and public health that should also support good treatment progress and outcomes.

May you be well. May you and your family be safe and healthy.
