Service Description
ERP Foundations I is a 6-session live, online didactic course on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD. Practitioners completing this course will be able to use ERP and are encouraged to enroll in ERP II, a 4-session consultation group to support its application. Presenter: Dr. Elyse Stewart, PhD, is a clinical psychologist with expertise in treating OCD and related disorders in outpatient and hospital settings. She is a gifted teacher and directs the Intensive Outpatient Program at the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety, Boston. CEs: 6 CEs available for BCBAs & Psychologists. Attendees must complete the course in full, attend all sessions & complete the course evaluation to receive ANY CE credit. No partial credit will be given. Overview: • Session 1. Overview of OCD and ERP • Session 2. Assessment and Functional Analysis • Session 3. Therapeutic Alliance: Building a Safe Harbor • Session 4: Creating an Exposure Hierarchy & Shaping Choice • Session 5: Supporting Inhibitory Learning • Session 6: Troubleshooting, Generalization & Maintenance Educational Objectives: 1. Describe OCD, its prevalence, age of onset, course, patterns of comorbidity, and varying presentations 2. Describe exposure and response prevention (ERP), its efficacy, and barriers to its use 3. Describe evidence-based assessment, including functional assessment for OCD and related conditions in children and adults 4. Give a functional description of therapeutic alliance and build a strong therapeutic alliance using an ACT perspective 5. Construct an exposure hierarchy or menu, and describe how to make decisions about when to move up the ERP hierarchy 6. Facilitate client willingness and choice 7. Describe inhibitory learning principles in exposure and design and conduct exposure exercises that support inhibitory learning Intended Audience: Beginning and Intermediate-level clinicians new to ERP and/or interested in expanding their practice to treat individuals with OCD. Cost: $450; There is an extra $15 fee for CEs. Scholarships or reduced prices are available for practitioners who belong to or serve marginalized communities.
