Meet Elaine!
Elaine Ruiz, PhD, is a bilingual (Spanish/English) postdoctoral fellow at the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety. She completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Florida International University, her PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Rhode Island, and her predoctoral residency at the University of California Los Angeles in the Child and Adolescent Acute Care Track. Elaine has a diverse background helping youth and families both in outpatient and inpatient settings. Her clinical interests include utilizing evidence-based practices to address the unique needs of children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing anxiety and OCD. Moreover, she is interested in adapting evidence-based practices to better serve Latino youth and families. Elaine utilizes Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help her clients achieve their goals and live a meaningful life.
Elaine was born in the Dominican Republic but has lived “all over" the United States, including Missouri, Kansas, Florida, Rhode Island, California, and now Massachusetts. Before she became a psychologist, she was a portrait and wedding photographer, and from time to time you can still find her taking photos for those she loves. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, hiking, going to the beach, taking photos, painting, watching movies, video games and board games, and snuggling with her 11-year-old cat.
